Take That For Data

It's been far too long since I've put out a league note and I wanted to do something a little different. As we near the end of our 9th season in the Co-Owner era we are starting to have some pretty fun data to play with and analyze. Next week I'll be back with a standard PR but for now, enjoy some statistical insights.

Jesse - .600 Best All-Time Winning Percentage

You’re probably asking, wait Jesse is 5-7 and has the worst All-Play record, how does he suddenly have the best winning percentage in league history?! Well it turns out Tim has been total butt this year and an offseason revamp of the statistic to now include co-owner seasons have boosted Jesse into the top spot.

Andrew - 1 Playoff Appearance

Way back in 2018 Andrew went 9-3 to secure the #2 seed and a BYE in the first round of the playoffs before losing in the Semi Finals and the 3rd place game. That was Andrew’s only playoff appearance in 8 seasons!

With two weeks remaining Andrew has already secured a playoff spot and should get a favorable matchup in Round 1. Could this be the year Andrew gets his first playoff win?

Eric – 778.6 Low Points & 1065 High Points

I’ll start with the good, Eric’s 778.6 Points in Week 6 is his worst score of the season but the highest of any team’s worst score this year!

And now for the not good, Eric’s 1065.2 Points in Week 5 is his best score of the season but the lowest of any team’s best score this year!

Somehow that adds up to a below average team that will likely miss out on the playoffs while still avoiding last place.

Mitch / Jason - 965.2 Points

Back in Week 8 the Step Owners tied Cha 965.2 to, you guessed it, 965.2, marking the first ever Tie in the Co-Owner era.  The Step Owners followed that performance up with the exact same 965.2 Points in Week 9, this time a Win over Taylor.

While teams have recorded the exact same number of points across multiple matchups in a season before (Eric, for example, scored 1004.6 in Weeks 4 and 7 this season) no other team has ever scored the exact same number of points in back-to-back weeks.

Dave – 1121 Points Per Game

Sometimes it’s not hard to find the best team. Dave sits atop the standings thanks to his league leading 1121 Points Per Game. Dave heads into the final two Weeks of the regular season having won 5 in a row while scoring 1000+ Points in each of those matchups. Dave has scored 1000 or more points 8 times this season, the most of any team.

Justin – 1 Losing Season

With a 7-5 record, Justin is guaranteed to continue his non losing ways. Through 9 seasons Justin has had a .500 or better record 8 times, something that only Mitch can claim if the Step Owners are able to win their next two matchups. And like Ryan, Justin will be looking to be the first Owner to repeat as champion.

Taylor – 2 Transactions

Taylor has made just two transactions this year, both coming via the waiver wire. That’s the fewest of any team this season. For a team that sits at 6-6 and a legit shot at a title if Murray gets healthy, I would have expected more moves at the trade deadline.

Cha - $332 FAAB

Cha’s $332 remaining FAAB budget is the most in the league. We often make fun of Mike for his hilariously low bids, but Cha hasn’t won a bid for more than $17 this season. It’s not a Taylor situation either, as Cha has won 8 bids to date. In desperate need of a QB2, I full expected Cha to go all in on Mike White today but instead his weak $21 bid fell short by $60.

Mike – 1490.4

Mike’s 1490.4 Points in Week 5 are the most any team has recorded this season. If that holds true through the rest of the season, that total would be by far the worst season high score in league history.

The previous 8 seasons the average season high score has been 1674.5, with a previous low 100 points higher than Mike’s 1490.4. It’s not just the high scores that are down this year either. Scoring across the league is really low! Our average score of 957.2 is more than 30 points lower than the previous average score for an individual team.

Ryan – 4 Time Co-Owner

Unless named co-owner Ryan will break his streak of being Co-Owner in odd numbered years dating back to 2017. Our reigning champ has a chance not only to break that streak but also be our first every back-to-back champion!

Tim – 0 Time Co-Owner

Tim is one of two teams to never be a Co-Owner through our first 8 seasons. However, with just two matchups remaining, Tim finds himself at 4-8 and at the bottom of the standings. Tim does have a couple winnable games left against Cha and Taylor but any slip ups and Tim will be looking at spending the 2023 season with one of you ass hats.

Drew - 0-4 in the Playoffs

Drew has made the playoffs 4 times to date but is one of two teams, with the aforementioned Andrew being the other, to never win a playoff game. At 6-6 Drew has a very real shot at a playoff spot this year but could he actually win a playoff game? I suppose anything is possible but Drew’s All-Play record is the 3rd worst and he has only two weeks where he scored more than 1000 points.
