A special guest post by Taylor
This year started a little wild when seemingly on a whim we got rid of K and D/ST to make way for SupaFlexx. It was hard to tell at first what that would mean for the league, I see two differences. First is waivers, everyone has more skill guys making the probability of finding good players on the wire a stretch aside from injuries. Secondly, (and more importantly) easier to manage your schedule and bye weeks. Before we’d all be dropping semi decent players to pick up a second K or D/ST just to fill a roster for the week. SupaFlexx makes it easier to manage your schedule but takes a little bit of the fun of filling a full roster and finding some gems that get dropped for a week. Still it has been a nice change of pace but at the end of the day still kinda boring. So here we are almost halfway through the season and we have 8 teams with a winning record separated by only one game. Thought Lowe’s NBA rankings yesterday putting teams in tiers was neat so I’ll do the same.
Tier 1 (4-1): Melkins, Taylor, Mitch
1. Melkins: After scoring over 1700 for only the second time in history, it’s easy to put them on top (after co-boners strong showing last year is our league figuring out how to co-own?). I have some questions about the WRs and if Le’Veon is going to do anything this year, but they have a strong bench, 3 solid qbs, and expected to win this week. Kudos toyou two for making this work.
2. Taylor: I’ve been scoring points, my team is still healthy and McCaffery is a stud. But my 4 wins came against Tier 3 with a combined record of 3-17. I’ve had inconsistent weeks and haven’t made any moves on waivers or trades, so we’ll see.
3. Mitch: He beat me week 2 so maybe should be above me, but his roster does not make me believe. He’s got a lot of running backs but none are in top 25 of the league. He gets 2 easy matchups then a tough finish to the season. Half of his team is on bye week 10 against Melkins. Still his QB’s are great and he’ll be competing for a playoff bye.
Tier 2 (3-2): Tim, Jesse, Cha, Justin, Jason
4. Tim: After a slow start Tim’s team is looking good. He’s got a great 1-2 punch with Watson and Cook atop his roster and solid throughout. He’s got a tough matchup
against me this week with only 1 QB but still gets to play all of Tier 3. So expect Tim to be in the playoffs.
5. Jesse: I got Jeese here. He’s right that he’s less than 100 points away from undefeated and over 1000 points 4 of 5 games. He’s got some issues on his roster but if Brees and Barkley come back strong he’ll be set up nicely. I love the patience and see it turning outwell. Bold move Jesse! Like Tim, he plays Tier 3 in 4 of his last 5 games.
6. Cha: He’s loaded at the top of his roster. He’s got a WR that I’m confident will get his (Hopkins) and a RB on the way up (Mack). I’m concerned how Gordon/Ekeler combo plays out and if Keenum is capable of being OK even if healthy. He plays Dave this week with only 1 starting QB, should be close.
7. Justin: He’s had to deal with some injuries at WR but Hill and Adams should be returning this week. This team is solid and Justin will continue to make moves (buyer beware) to be in a position to compete later in the season. Watch him flip Rosen and Carson for Karmara or something. We joke but Justin is a master at this and he does find ways for you to start 2 decent guys for your one stud and honestly some teams need that. He’s got a tough stretch of matchups to make the playoffs but I’m not ready to bet him he doesn’t.
8. Jason: The defending champ reminded us that he was 3-0 before stumbling a bit and changing his GM name back to Jason Ridder. He’s got two open spots on his roster for some reason. Is David Johnson even good? His QB’s are all average at best and OBJ isunderwhelming to say the least. Minchew will get worse as defenses start to figure him out. Jason has tough matchups the next 4 weeks and I see him in no mans land missing playoffs and safe from co-ownership. At least you’re not Teir 3!
Tier 3 (1-4 or worse): Dave, Drew, Andrew, Eric
9. Dave: Dave is struggling but not giving up. He’s made some moves both on Waivers andtrades. His team isn’t garbage but week to week can’t get consistent production to score points. His team improves when Newton and Green are back. If he beats Cha this week and then has Eric then Andrew, Dave could be 4-4 going into week 8.
10. Drew: Rough start to the year and seems to be content beating Eric and riding it out the rest of the way. Losing Brees sucks, but getting Dalton feels like it hurts even more. Elliot and maybe Thielen only guys capable of beating their projections week to week. Miss you out here though!
11. Andrew: He drafted and made a cereal team name. That’s it.
12. Eric: Got absolutely destroyed by injuries this year. Props for trading and picking up guyson waivers but you didn’t have enough to even start with. If Drew wins this week against Andrew then Eric’s week 9 against Andrew will most likely decide co-ownership next year. Thanks Guys!
