Things have really gotten out of hand. This week alone has seen Cam Newton, Aaron Rodger, Andrew Luck, Mike Evans (TWICE!), Julio Jones and a host of other good fantasy players changing hands. The mood of the league has changed too, with owners out for blood while others feeling defeated.
I looked back at some early LM Posts and couldn't believe how civil things were. Also, I actually broke down individual matchups and spoke well of people.
With the overall state of the league I thought it might be a nice change of pace to do a little throw back LM post. Hope you enjoy.
Mitch (6-2) vs Jason (4-4)
Big matchup for Jason who is trying to start his first winning streak of the season. Unfortunately he's starting the week a behind the eight ball thanks to an injured Alex Smith. The current projection heavily favors Mitch, but if Jason can secure a QB before Sunday this matchup will be close.
Jesse / Dave (4-4) vs Drew (2-6)
Injuries and BYEs are hitting both of these team hard this week. Jesse / Dave need to fill two open slots AND hope Big Ben and Spencer Ware are able to play. Drew isn't is in as bad of a position, with only one open slot. I suppose it's good these teams meet this week, with one of these teams walking away with a win, someone will be feeling very lucky.
Andrew (4-4) vs Eric (4-4)
Two 4-4 teams looking to keep pace with the pack for playoff position. Andrew is currently projected to win by a little less than 70 points, but Eric still has time to find a replacements for Cousins and D/ST (both on BYE). I don't think it was talked about much in the group chat, but Andrew's $1 Jordan Mathews claim has the potential to be one of the better deals this season. For a team in need of healthy and productive players, this was a huge addition.
Elkins (3-5) vs Justin (6-2)
Ryan added Andrew Luck, Matt Jones and Greg Olsen this week. All good additions, as long as Jones retains his starter roll. Unfortunately Jones and AJ Green are on BYE this week and Justin's super team is at nearly 100% (Gonk is on BYE). Still, the projections currently have Ryan a mere 80 point underdog. A win this week would go a long way to getting Ryan back into the playoff hunt, while a loss could put him in a must win situation going forward.
Tim (2-6) vs Mike (4-4)
With matchups against Mitch and Justin still on the schedule, Tim's chances of making the playoffs are almost non existent. That said, this team is still good enough to stay out of last place and even play spoiler. This week Tim will try and stop Mike's two game win streak. Mike will be without Fitz but a healthy Ty Montgomery would really. If Tim grabs a D/ST before Sunday, this matchup should be close.
Cha (3-5) vs Taylor (6-2)
I know a good bit of this game is nothing more than dumb luck, but it's been fun to see Taylor really get into Fantasy Football while enjoying some success. This week Taylor's 6-2 squad will actually play the underdog, thanks in part to Tom Brady's BYE Week. Chandler filled an open RB slot with a good player (at least in terms of projected points) AND improved his QB play with a the trade with Mitch earlier today. Like, Ryan, Cha has a good team but can't afford another loss.
Good luck this week everyone!
