The following is a special guest post by Mr. Taylor Garvin.
I didn’t do a theme because it’s my first time. That and I don’t really know football all that well. I don’t know how Mitch does this AND has time to cheat.
- Justin: His team is pretty loaded and has a deep bench. That trade with Mike has huge, and Justin was definitely the winner. Gurley and Ingram are going to have a tough time getting a lot of touches when their teams down 30-0 at halftime. I’m nitpicking here, of course, but if his team stays healthy, and Mariota doesn’t suck on Stafford/Rivers bye weeks, he should have a good chance at staying at the top.
- Taylor: As much as I’d like to be #1, I can’t because I share the top spot with Justin who beat me in week two (878-828), when two starters went out for the year in their respective first quarters. (Dammit Culter!) BUT, Brady is back, and he seems to also like my TE, Bennett (Ugh, hate that NE plays Cincy this week). I was bailed out early in the year when Christine Michael and Theo Riddick moved up to starters with injuries. With these guys and Antonio Brown, I feel pretty good about my chances in the playoffs. Nervous about my bench, hope no one gets hurt.
- Elkins: Elkins changed the league last year when he decided you didn’t need QBs in your first 10 picks. Bold strategy, and it paid off scoring 3rd highest points last year and currently 2nd highest this year. He needs some help at the moment if he’s gonna keep up, he currently has an open bench spot, Corey Coleman (out) ded, and Trevor Siemian (questionable) starting. However his next 3 games against, Ridder, Jason and Tim should get him back to a winning record.
- Mitch: Probably should be 3rd, but knocked down a spot cuz he commish, and likes to think that makes him a God. His QBs and RBs are both tops in the league. If Cam comes back from concussion pissed off, Mitch will have a decent year. He’s not the best team and his “other guys” are meh at best. Drew won’t score half of his score this week, so expect the top PR spot to be Mitch next week. He’ll make another great trade with some desperate bozo (me) right before the playoffs.
- Jesse/Dave: Stuck in the purgatory of co-ownership for a year has obviously not been fun for either of these two seasoned fantasy owners. It’s what makes our co-ownership policy so impactful. Do whatever you can to stay out of last! Their roster has some bright spots but week to week they can’t seem to score any damn points. Their schedule closes favorably this year and could very easily make the playoffs (as long as Big Ben is healthy). These two should stay out of last and will be ready for Draft Day 2017.
- Andrew: This year’s middle of the pack team is Andrew. Solid draft, solid pickups, SOME fair trade offers and still can’t seem to get his team on the right track. Maybe it’s because his team currently has SIX (!!) questionable players and one OUT. Solid comeback last night. Keep fishing Luck, someone will bite.
- Cha: Cha has been really quiet on the line which makes me nervous. He hasn’t made a big deal about losing twice while scoring 1100+, makes me think he’s pretty confident in his team. He’s still 2-3 but gets a free win this week against Tim (if he starts Adams). Like Mitch, he’ll come out on top of some trade to someone who is trying not to be automatic co-owner.
- Eric: Eric has taken a lot of shit recently albeit some of it warranted. Pros: He wins sometimes. Gets to play Jason again. Cons: His team really is not that good, He has $40 left of his FAAB. Bid on Someone!
- Mike: By all accounts Mike has done pretty good this year. He’s 4th in points scored, and unfortunately had the most points scored against him. He made a huge trade and I applaud his ambition to make an aggressive move. However, he’s 9th on here for a reason; his team is awful. There is good news though, he still goes against both Ridders, Tim and Drew. Playoffs are actually not out of the question yet.
- Jason: Jason’s team is awful, but you already knew that. In fact, you already know everything about Jason. If GroupMe analytics were a thing (and they should be), Jason would have 50% of the comments, 85% of the memes, and 97% of the jokes (some funny, some not funny, some very not funny). Speaking of funny jokes though, have you seen his roster? He beat Drew and Tim and that should keep him out of co-ownership this year.
- Drew: Drew has had a tough year. Carson should be better (healthy), and OBJ has been a tank. Some questionable picks and some very questionable drops have hurt Drew (at least he traded OBJ instead of dropping him. He has two top 10 D/ST though (I smell trade value!). A win against Tim early in the season is the only thing keeping him out of last.
- Tim: Sorry Tim. Sucks to be terrible. I’m sure Jesse reminds you about his team last year every time you two hang out and golf on a weekday (jelly). With loses to Jason, Eric, and Drew already, he needs to start winning soon or he’ll be pairing up next year. I bet that Kanye concert was cool though.
